Tiny Eden Recipes, Cooking & Selling
Cooking is not optional in Tiny Eden — it is the only way crops become money in version 1.0. The developer FAQ sets the shape of the system, and launch-week discussion threads fill in the two things that trip players up.
How cooking works
| Question | Answer | Source |
|---|---|---|
| How many recipes are there? | At least 40 in the base game, per the developer FAQ. | Developer FAQ, 4 May 2026 |
| How do you unlock recipes? | Recipes unlock as your reputation grows. Reputation also gates which seeds the other residents will sell you. | Developer FAQ, 4 May 2026 |
| Are recipes fixed? | Partly. Some ingredients are predefined and others are flexible, and each ingredient you pick affects the finished dish. | Developer FAQ, 4 May 2026 |
| Can you invent your own recipes? | No — and the developer has said custom recipes are not planned. | Developer FAQ, 4 May 2026 |
| Can you sell raw crops instead of cooking? | Not in 1.0. Only cooked dishes can be sold; the developer is open to adding raw crops or seedlings later. | Developer FAQ, 4 May 2026 |
| Can you skip cooking entirely? | No. Cooking is required, but it has been deliberately kept simple. | Developer FAQ, 4 May 2026 |
| Why does the kitchen upgrade look broken? | It usually is not. When crafting a dish you have to set the portion size manually — players who skipped that step read the upgrade as bugged. | Steam Discussions, Is Kitchen Upgrade bugged? 7 Sept 2026 |
| Is the Cookbook achievement obtainable? | Not reliably at launch. Bajka Games confirmed on 7 September that the “unlock every recipe” achievement is bugged and said they would fix it as soon as possible. | Steam Discussions, developer reply, 7 Sept 2026 |
Cooking facts checked:
The money chain
- Grow the crop
- Harvest it
- Cook it in the kitchen
- Sell the dish to the residents or through your own retail unit
- Money is reinvested; reputation unlocks new recipes and seeds
Reputation is the hinge in that loop, and it runs both ways: it unlocks recipes, and it decides which residents will sell you seeds. Cooking is not a side system you can defer — skip it and the loop never closes. The full earnings breakdown, including the retail unit and the launch bug that stops sales dead, is on the money guide.
Two things the developers have ruled out
Custom recipes are not coming — the FAQ says so directly and adds “we don't plan to add that.” Selling raw crops or seedlings is a maybe: it is not in 1.0, and the studio described itself as open to adding it later. Neither has a date attached.
