Tiny Eden Planters: Sizes & Add-on Rules

Planters are the hard constraint on everything else: pot footprint decides which plants fit, and pot size decides whether the clip-on add-ons will attach at all. The rules below come from developer and player replies in the Steam Discussions during launch week, cross-read against the achievement list.

The rules, with sources

RuleDetailSource
Add-ons only clip to large plantersCooling fans and grow lights attach only to the larger 4x4 planters — the size that holds onions. On the three starter planters there is simply not enough space and the add-on will not attach.Steam Discussions, Coolin Fan and Grow Light thread, 7 Sept 2026
The plant must be at the shoot stageThe plant in the pot needs to be at the smaller shoot stage when you attach an add-on. A mature plant fills the space the clip needs.Steam Discussions, Coolin Fan and Grow Light thread, 7 Sept 2026
The Castor line is the first that accepts add-onsThe lowest planter that takes the clip-on add-ons is the Castor (also spelled Cantor in the same thread — both spellings appear, the in-game string has not been confirmed either way here). It is the shallow-depth line used for bell peppers and cucumbers.Steam Discussions, Temperature bug and Coolin Fan threads, 7 Sept 2026
Do not buy the fan add-on earlyA player who had already hit the problem put it bluntly: the fan is not designed for the first three planter types, so buying one before you own a Castor or higher wastes the money.Steam Discussions, Temperature bug thread, 7 Sept 2026
Planters come in a full range of sizes and are craftableThe achievement All Sizes Matter is awarded for crafting all sizes of planters, which confirms the sizes are a crafted progression rather than a single shop purchase.Steam achievement schema
Planters can be customisedThe achievement Personal Touch is awarded for customising a planter — 2.9% of players had done it a day after launch, making it the second most-unlocked achievement in the game.Steam global achievement stats, 8 Sept 2026
Emptying a planter uses the same tool as removing a plantThe trowel removes the plant on the first pass and the soil on the second, so a pot can be re-mixed for a different crop without being discarded.Steam Discussions, How to remove a dying plant / Compost and Sand threads, 7 Sept 2026

Rules checked against the discussion board:

The mistake that costs you money

Buying the fan add-on early. It is one of the first useful-looking items in the shop and it will not work on anything you own at that point. Spend that money on the trowel instead — you need it the moment your first plant wilts, and without it there is no way to clear a pot at all.

What is not on this page

Bajka Games has not published a planter table with names, footprints and prices. Everything above is what can be traced to a source; the individual pot names beyond the Castor line are deliberately left blank here rather than guessed.
